Chair
Seating as structure — where material logic drives form.
Challenge
The brief was to design a chair in which the structural system is the aesthetic — a piece where load paths and material behaviour generate the form rather than being resolved behind a surface. The constraint was a single material family and no applied ornament.
Process
Development began with an analysis of how force flows through a seated body and what that demands of a supporting structure. A series of physical and digital studies tested geometric configurations — exploring which resolved the mechanical requirements with the least material and the most visual honesty. Each iteration was assessed against both functional performance and the legibility of its structural logic.

Outcome
The final chair reads as a diagram of its own structure. Every element is either load-bearing or the direct consequence of something that is. The piece functions as furniture but also as a study in how constraints, taken seriously, become generative.
